Bonnaroo 08' in review

Photobucket

Bonnaroo was a complete success this year. Every piece necessary for a good festival was there. The weather was so much better than both '06 and '07. This year I went with my long time B-roo partner in crime Elliott Brigman for the third time. We actually got a hotel this year and stayed in Decherd TN. it was about a 30 minute drive to get to the festival grounds. This had it's ups and downs for sure. I loved being able to have an action packed day, but then be able to eat some (somewhat) decent food and sleep in a bed. It's really stressful to drive to and from though because it's open season for the police. The a/c was worth it though.
Thursday night me and Elliott were restless from driving in the car all the way from Spartanburg so we decided to venture out into the Tennessee night. We were hoping to see MGMT(who I had allredy seen in Cali) and Vampire Weekend. We drove for about fifteen minutes in the right direction but for some reason we turned back and got Sonic and went to sleep. Friday morning after that adventure we were totally ready for everything B-roo had to offer. So we called our friends who were camping (Ryan+andrea) and we were off.
Tegan and Sara talked about a whole lotta stuff I didn't care about but played some goods songs early in the day. Everyone was really excited to see Jack White again this year with The Raconteurs, but before that we saw Les Claypool from Primus shred his bass with a Pinnochio mask on. Raconteurs was incredible but in order to see M.I.a I left and headed into something even more ridiculous. m.i.a. is a fucking tease. She hyped us up with all these little pieces of bass line then wouldn't come out. This went on for like 20 minutes until she came out strong with Bamboo Banger. She also announced her retirement from live shows. I personally didn't believe it until it was all over the blogs when I got home. I caught the end of Rilo Kiley and got to hear exactly what I wanted. Chris Rock did not make me laugh so me and Elliott decided it would be best to sleep instead of party hard with Metallica.
It was the smartest decision made the whole weekend on our part. Saturday started strong and stayed that way until we left Sunday morning at around 7:00 after Kanye's spectacle. I couldn't go into detail on how awesome Saturday was if I tried. avett brothers, ben folds, jack johnson,BB King and of course Kanye. We slept almost all day on Sunday but saw Death Cab at around 6. We soaked up our last few hours of Bonnroo and we were off again to the real world.
